What does success mean to you?

The end of a calendar year is usually the time we start to set goals for ourselves and our businesses.  We're finishing up projects, talking with our accountants, and wrapping up the end of the year. Before we begin setting goals for the new year, there is a super important question we need to ask ourselves. If we don't take some time and dive into it, we could be setting ourselves for disappointment.

Ready? When you hear the word "success", what comes to mind? Do you view it as an end result to a project or event? Do you measure yourself with this word at the end of the year? Or do you think of it as black and white - I am a success or I have failed?

Success is super important to define for YOURSELF. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What makes you the happiest?
  • Does your idea of success have more than one part?
  • What are your values?

You'll never know if you obtain "success" unless you have defined it for yourself. You can certainly have different definitions of success for different areas of life. What does success look like to you in your personal life, spiritual life, exercise life, relationships?

What will it mean to you once you reach that level of success?

Often we don't stop to think about what success means to us. We easily say "I failed, I'm not successful". Or we don't ever consider if we've hit OUR OWN mark of success.

Here are few definitions for you to consider as you create your own....

"Success is not the key to happiness.. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." - Albert Schweitzer

"The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty." - Zig Ziglar

There is only one success - to be able to spend your life in your own way." - American Author Christopher Morley
